Director’s Address

Our 2018\19 ministry year is off to a great start.  Our first big event of the year was the New Era Street Festival. This is a one-day event that we have been at for the past four years. This year, we were not able to have the ark there, so we had to use our tent. Besides our Bible lessons, we also did face painting. It was a beautiful day, but the attendance was low. Our total for the end of the day was 57 contacts. We are very thankful for these contacts we were able to make, and we plan to be there again next year.

At the end of the month, the Good News Club® program started. There were eight Good News Clubs, with seven in the public schools. The attendance at these clubs ranged from 2 to 31 children. Our total enrollment was 77 children. We are thankful for a great start to our clubs. This year, we have had several teachers and helpers that had to drop out for different reasons, so we are in great need of new teachers and helpers. Pray that as we visit churches, we will find people who want to see children reached and want to get involved in clubs. There are three clubs that are scheduled to start this month. One is in Hart and two are in Scottville, and one of those teachers is a new teacher. Please pray that they will all have children come. Also, pray that the clubs that have started will continue to grow throughout this year.

I had the great opportunity to speak in chapel at Cornerstone Christian Academy. I plan to be speaking there at least once a month throughout the school year. This last time I spoke there were 23 students in attendance. All seemed to enjoy the lesson.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Teaching Children Effectively™ class do to lack of enrollment. We are planning to schedule another class in January or February. Watch for details in the future.

Holiday Clubs

During the months of November and December we have special party clubs for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are interested in hosting or teaching these clubs, please let us know. The Thanksgiving lesson this year is “It is Good to Give Thanks”, and our Christmas kit is “Joy to the World”.

The Return

The Return is a statewide event that we have every year where our summer missionaries get together to get reacquainted and see what the Lord is doing in their lives. This event will be December 27 from 10 AM to 3 PM. It will be at South Church in Lansing, and the cost will be $4 to cover food. If you are interested in our summer program, you can come and meet teens who have been involved and get information about the Christian Youth in Action® training.  If you are interested, or you know teens that might be interested, let us know.

Needs

  • We are currently behind in our budget for the year. Pray that the Lord will provide the funds needed for the rest of this year.
  • The Child Evangelism Fellowship® National Conference will be held in May 2019 and we would like to be able to send our staff to this conference. The total cost will be $2,000, which covers registration and travel. Pray that we will be able to raise the funds needed.
  • Wendy is scheduled to have back surgery on October 22. After surgery, she will be in the hospital three to five days. Pray that the surgery will go well, and she heals properly.
