Director’s Address

We are so thankful to what the Lord has done during this first month of Good News Clubs. During the month of October, we had three new clubs start. Two of the clubs started were in the Scottville school district. In one of those clubs we have a brand-new teacher, who is also a teacher at the school where the club is taught. This was a big answer to prayer and we are so thankful that he is willing to teach the children about Jesus in the school where he works. We were also able to get a club started in Hart, at the Hart Congregational Church.  This is the second year the church has hosted this club. The club is being taught by Jennifer Syer, Evelyn Bump, and Dave Juhl, who are all on our local committee. I am very thankful to see our committee members getting involved with reaching the children. We are praising God for the two children who came the first week and pray that the club will grow. During the month of October we have had 66 new children start attending clubs, with two praying to receive Christ as Savior. PRAISE THE LORD!!

We would like to thank all those who have been praying for Wendy’s back surgery. The surgery went according to plan, and after surgery she was in the hospital for four days. She is now home in a back brace, and will be in it for at least three months. Continue to pray as she heals. We are praying that she will be able to teach in the Instructor of Teachers class that will be held in Lansing, and that she will be able to get back to her duties in Shoreline and with Christian Youth in Action®.

Holiday Clubs

During the months of November and December we have special Party Clubs for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are interested in hosting or teaching one of these clubs, please let us know. The Thanksgiving lesson this year is “It Is Good to Give Thanks”; our Christmas kit is “Joy to the World.”

The Return

The Return is a statewide event we have every year where our summer missionaries come together to get reacquainted and share what the Lord is doing in their lives. This event will be December 27 from 10 AM to 3 PM at South Church in Lansing—the cost will be $4 to cover food. If you are interested in our summer program, you can come and meet teens who have been involved and get information about the Christian Youth in Action training.  If you are interested, or you know teens that might be interested, please let us know.

Teacher Training

After the first of the year we will be offering two types of training. We will be offering Teaching Children Effectively™ (TCE) which is our main training, but we will also be offering Good News Club® Quick Start training. There is a cost for TCE training, but there is no cost for Quick Start and a small time commitment. Be watching in future newsletters for the trainings and when we will be offering them.

If you would like us to do a Quick Start training for the people of your church, please contact our office.

Needs

  • We are currently behind in our budget for the year. Pray that the Lord will provide the funds needed for the rest of this year.
  • We would like to be able to send our staff to the Child Evangelism Fellowship® National Conference to be held in May 2019. The total cost will be $2,000 which covers registration and travel. Pray that we will be able to raise the needed funds .
