Director’s Address
During the month of February, we saw a lot of blessings from the Lord.
We are now entering the home stretch of our Good News Club® (GNC®) year. It is hard to believe that we are almost done, but we have seen a lot of exciting things. Once again, we had another increase in the enrollment in our clubs as a whole. Six out of our ten clubs showed an increase in enrollment. We also had one child come to know Christ as Savior during the month. Most of our clubs will be ending this month. There will be two GNC rallies going on in our chapter. Pray that these rallies will have good attendance, kids will have lots of fun, and parents will come.
On February 16, we had our second pie fellowship at Aetna Calvary Church in White Cloud. That night, we had Pastor Jones of Aetna Calvary give a devotional. Wendy, Virginia, and I gave staff reports on what’s been going on in the chapter. Virginia also gave a brief testimony on her time at Children’s Ministries Institute® and her new position as the ministry coordinator. Our chairman, David Juhl led the business part of the meeting. We had a total of 27 people in attendance. Several people came and talked to us about the ministry. There was also a good offering given. We are planning to do more pie fellowships in the future.
We were also able to finish up our Teaching Children Effectively™ class. We had this class at first Baptist of Fremont with four students. All four students did well on their practicums, especially on the Bible lesson. Three of our students showed interest in our Christian Youth in Action® program and helping in the summer ministries. Two were already involved in helping in Good News Clubs in Newaygo County and we hope this will help them get more involved, maybe even becoming the lead teachers. All of them are planning to do their final practicums in Good News Club®. Pray that they will get their requirements done soon.

Summer Missionaries
You may remember Hailey and Madison Westerbeek who were our summer missionaries that taught most of our 5-Day Clubs last summer. We are excited to say that both of them are planning on coming to work with us again this summer. Hailey is planning to be a paid summer missionary again. She will need to raise $5,000 to cover all her summer expenses. This year, Hailey will be on staff at Christian Youth in Action. She will also be in our Level 4 program of training. Madison was an assistant last year and we are hoping that she will be able to lead some of our clubs this summer. She will need to raise $300 for the training. She will be a student at Christian Youth in Action in our Level 2 program. We are proud to introduce their younger sister Taylor. She was able to help us a couple times last year in clubs and fairs. She will be an assistant in the clubs and at the fairs. She will need to raise $300 for training, and she will be in our Christian Youth in Action Level 1 program. We are looking forward to working with all three of these girls this summer. If you would like to help these girls in any way, please send a donation to the Shoreline office with their names on the memo line.
Spring is almost here which means that summer is soon to follow. Because summer will soon be here, we are starting to schedule 5-Day Clubs. Last year, we had a great summer with a total of 17 5-Day Clubs, 218 enrolled, and three salvations. We are hoping to have 20 5-Day Clubs this year. The only way we can do that is if people host them. If you had a club last year, are you thinking about hosting one again this year? Maybe you didn’t have one last year but you wanted one. Well, you can host one this year. To host a club, all you have to do is provide a place for us to meet, invite the children you know, and if possible provide a snack. We will send a trained group of teens to teach the club. Are there children around you that are not in church and need to hear the Gospel? You are the person we need. Here are the weeks we are looking for clubs to be hosted:
July 10—14; July 17—21; July 24—28; July 31—Aug. 4; Aug. 7—11; Aug. 14—18
If there is a week you would like that does not appear, you can call our office and we can work it out. Please pray and ask God if He can use you in this way.
Banquet
Mark your calendars and plan to attend our annual banquet on April 8. This year, we are going to have the banquet on a Saturday starting at 5 p.m. at First Baptist of Fremont. Our speaker will be Thomas Bump. We are planning, once again, to have a program for the children. Come and join us for a good time of food and fellowship, and hear what the Lord has done in Shoreline.
The Family AfFair
On March 18, we will be at the Family AfFair at Mason County High School in Scottsville. This will be the second year that we have been at this event. There will be several businesses and organizations there providing free activities for the children. We are planning to be there again to have games, face painting, and looking for opportunities to share the Gospel. Last year, we had the opportunity to talk to over 300 people in a four-hour time period. During that time, we saw many boys and girls who attended the Good News Clubs in Scottsville. We are hoping for good response again, and hope that we will be able to develop new relationships. Please pray for us while we’re at this event.
International Conference
The Child Evangelism Fellowship® International Conference is in May. We would like the Shoreline staff to attend. In order to do so, we need to raise $2,500 to cover conference fees, room and board, and travel expenses. We currently have $1,152 that has been given, leaving $1,348 more to raise. We are all now registered for this event, so pray that the rest of the funds will come in.
If you want to give to this project, make your check payable to CEF® and put “conference” on the memo line.
