Director’s Address

Summer is finally here. School is out and the fun is about to begin. I am so excited to see what the Lord is going to do.

At the beginning of May, I had another opportunity to speak at Cornerstone Christian Academy. This was the sixth time this school year that I spoke for chapel, and I enjoyed everyone of them. There were 24 children who attended and all were very involved with the lesson. I am hoping that I will get more opportunities next school year.

Over the past month, we have been doing summer training classes for teens that want to help us this summer. There were seven teens from our chapter that took the training, two of them will be going to Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA) in Grand Rapids June 19—28. Be praying for our teens as they are practicing what they learned so they will be prepared for the summer.

Virginia and I had the opportunity to help the Grand Valley Chapter with a Teaching Children Effectively (TCE) course. There were five students taking the course. Both of us had the opportunity to teach at least five different sessions.  We are planning to be offering this course sometime this fall so be watching future letters for dates.

Virginia had the opportunity to go to the National Conference and this is what she wrote.

“Thank you for your prayers and making it possible for me to spend a week in North Carolina at the Ridgecrest Conference Center for the National Conference. While at the conference, I attended sessions on leadership taught by Hans Finzel who was the main speaker for the week. Hans also spoke in one session on the generational difference between Millennials and Baby Boomers. This information was really helpful to see how we can recognize these differences so they don’t get in the way of our ministry, but can help strengthen it. Besides the general sessions, there were many workshops to attend. One workshop I found to be really interesting was taught by a Child Evangelism Fellowship® director who had just launched the very first virtual Good News Club® earlier this year. It’s amazing to see the doors God is opening for ministry in places we couldn’t have even thought of. Besides the scheduled sessions and workshops there was some time I had to get to go exploring in the Black Mountains. A friend and I had a run in with a mama bear with her cubs and had to call the Ridgecrest safety team to come get us. The entire week was definitely full of some unforgettable experiences and useful information!”

We are excited that we now have ten clubs scheduled for the summer with more that will be scheduled soon. Most of our evening times are full, but we still have morning and afternoon times open. Are there children near you that need to be reached? It is not too late to schedule a 5-Day Club®.

Weeks we need clubs:

July 8—12; July 15—19;

July 22—26; July 29—Aug. 2: Aug. 5—9; Aug. 12—16.

Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day Weekend, we had two ministry opportunities. The first was the Horse Pull in Fountain. It was a very beautiful day, and we were able to share the Gospel with 70 people. The second was at Lake Community Church. We did a children’s program for them with 12 children in attendance. Praise the Lord for a great weekend.

Summer Needs

Summer is just over a month away, and there are big plans in Shoreline. We need volunteers in order to have a successful summer ministry: to help drive summer missionaries, make prize bags, help with club stuff, and work the fair. If you are able to help in any of these areas, please contact our office.

We will need help at the Baby Food Fest on July 17 in Fremont from 10:30 a.m.—2 p.m. This is a one day event. We are also looking for help at the two fairs in August. Western Michigan Fair in Ludington, August 6-10, and Oceana Fair in Hart, August 20-24. If you are able to help at any of these events, please contact our office.

Wendy’s Report

Wendy’s surgery went very well. She is healing from her surgery and the severe back pain is greatly reduced. She will be slowly getting back into ministry. Thank you all for your prayers
