Director’s Address
During the month of January, our clubs had a hard time getting restarted. There were two weeks in a row where we had clubs canceled due to weather. Praise the Lord, the weather broke and by the third week of January all of our clubs were restarted. Even though the clubs were slow getting started, the Lord blessed us with new children that started to attend. Our goal, this year, was to have an enrollment of 200 children in our clubs. Over the last two weeks of January, we had over ten children start attending Good News Club®. Praise the Lord for what He has done! We were told by one of our club teachers that one of the new children did not know anything about what Jesus had done for him. There are still children in the United States that do not know who Jesus is. I know it’s hard to believe, but it is so true. My prayer is that this one will learn and realize his need for Christ.
We have been diligently working on getting a club started in Hart. I am pleased to say that we have a starting date of February 6, and it will be held at the Congregational Church in Hart. We are so thankful how the Lord worked it out where we had a place to meet. One of our committee members, Jennifer Syer, has been the one leading the charge in getting this club together. I am so thankful for her willingness and desire to get this club started. Two other committee members will also be joining her in this club, David Juhl and Evlyn Bump. It is awesome to see committee members helping to get this club started. We have been working very hard at getting the news out and handing invitations to children as they leave school. Pray that this club will have a great start.
Wendy and I also had opportunity to speak two different times at Oceana Christian School. The first time I spoke in their chapel. I did an old lesson called Heaven and How to Get There, and had students look up the verses that were on the visual. The students had a great time participating, and seemed to really enjoy the lesson. At the end of chapel, a young boy came to me after the students left and said “I want to know how to get to Heaven.” I had the opportunity to counsel with him and he prayed to receive Christ. The second time, I did a presentation to just the seventh and eighth graders about summer training. Four of the students showed interest in working with us this summer. I hope all of them will have the opportunity to go to training and work with us in some way.
