Director’s Address

May is here! Even though the weather has not always been spring weather, it is spring. That means soon it will be summer and, during the month of May, our summer programs will kick off. I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store as we move closer to summer.

On April 6, we held our banquet at Cornerstone Baptist Church. This was the first time that we had the banquet at Cornerstone in Ludington. We did some things differently than in years past. The big thing we did differently was we did not have a keynote speaker. We asked three of our Good News Club® teachers to give testimonies from their clubs. All three did a fantastic job sharing about their clubs and what God has done in their lives. All of them stressed the importance of reaching the children now. All the people that came to the banquet really enjoyed the testimonies, and hearing what the Lord is doing in children’s lives. There was also a kids program that was led by Tom and Evlyn Bump. We had a total of 90 people in attendance, and had a great offering.

We started our Shoreline summer training the last Saturday in April with 11 students in attendance. Not all of them were from the Shoreline chapter, as we had people from the Grand Rapids and Muskegon chapters join us. For some of the students, this was their pre-training for Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA). Of the 11 students, six were from our chapter, and two of them will be going to CYIA. The first week, we covered the entire Wordless Book and assigned the students to practice it to be evaluated the next time we meet. This training will have three more meetings to prepare teens for the summer. Pray that all the students will do well.

There are now seven clubs scheduled for this summer, but we still have room in all the weeks to have clubs. Below are weeks and times that you can have a club to reach boys and girls near you.

Weeks we need clubs:

July 8—12; July 15—19;

July 22—26; July 29—Aug. 2: Aug. 5—9; Aug. 12—16.

10:00—11:30, 1:00—2:30, 3:00—4:30, 6:00—7:30

If you would like to have a club, and there is a better time for you, please contact our office and we will work with you.

Summer Needs

Summer is just over a month away, and there are big plans in Shoreline.  We need volunteers in order to have a successful summer ministry: to help drive summer missionaries, make prize bags, help with club stuff, and work the fair.  If you are able to help in any of these areas, please contact our office.

We do have big events coming up where we need volunteers. The first is the Horse Pull in Fountain, May 25. The second is the Asparagus Festival in Hart, June 8–9. If you can help with either one of these events, please let us know.

Wendy’s Report

This past month, Wendy had a spinal stimulation trial. The first trial did not go well, but the second one did. On May 15, she will be going in for a surgical procedure to have the spinal cord stimulator put in her back to give her relief from the pain she has been experiencing. Pray that all will go well and that she will get the relief she needs.
